Glad I didn't buy online!

One of my reasons for doing this log is because info like this Cruisecritic message board: Trains to Rome is out there but not very easy to locate. Several days after deciding not to muddle through the Italian web pages to pre-buy train tickets, I saw this post:

"Buy your ticket for Rome at Civ station, it is only 6.80 euros return & that includes all day on metro & bus in Rome.
San Pietro is indeed the station for Vatican after about 50 mins ride on train, this then goes in a long loop round Rome for another 20 mins through 4 other stations to Terminii. Colosseum is 2 stops on B line metro from Terminii (col blue on map)
On other side of Vatican is Cipro metro station on the A "red" line to get you to Terminii to change to blue line.
If you end at Trevi fountain, the 175 bus from the nearby main street gets you back to Terminii"

Although we briefly considered pouring all of our money out at once by doing this private limo tour of Rome, I think we're sticking with the train trip.
